Nanding's Bakery
About This Spot
Stepping into Nanding’s Bakery in Waipahu is like slipping into a beloved neighborhood gathering spot where the hum of familiar voices and the rich aroma of fresh baking instantly settle you in. The pace here is unhurried but lively, a warm blend of purposeful activity behind the counters and easy conversations among locals who’ve made this place a daily ritual. There’s an unmistakable feeling of coming home to something simple and honest—where every item on the counter beckons like a small celebration of comfort and heritage.
At the heart of Nanding’s experience is their iconic Spanish rolls, best enjoyed fresh, still warm from the oven. These rolls, with their tender, buttery crumb and just the right hint of sweetness, seem to melt softly on the tongue—offering a moment of quiet delight that’s both nostalgic and satisfying. Alongside them, you’ll find the familiar shapes and colors of ube bread filled with cream cheese, custard tarts, and steamed manapua, each bite carrying stories of shared mornings and afternoon pick-me-ups.
The bakery’s atmosphere reflects a close-knit community, filled with the easy rhythms of both longtime patrons and staff who know the flow well. It’s a place where conversations mingle with the smell of baking—where smiles and small exchanges feel genuine. While the space isn’t fancy, its charm lies in its authenticity: this is a shop built around tradition, craft, and the simple joy of good bread.
Nanding’s feels like a little island of warmth on Farrington Highway, where locals come together not just for sustenance but for connection. Whether you arrive early to claim the day’s best custard pie or step in later to savor the last warm Spanish rolls, there’s a subtle sense that you’re part of something ongoing, a shared appreciation for time-tested recipes and the human moments that come with them.

Came here for the first time at this location. Nanding's will forever be known for their Spanish Rolls. They are so flavorful and yummy especially when you first buy it. I've hadn't had Spanish Rolls that can top these guys. They have another shop in town on Kapahulu near the Zippys. Staff is fast and friendly. There's enough parking even when it gets busy. No restrooms inside.

The Spanish bread at this establishment is absolutely amazing—truly a must-try that makes the trip worthwhile! However, I was a bit taken aback by the atmosphere upon entering. The lively chatter of the local tita’s filled the air, yet I couldn't help but notice some side-eye glances directed at me because I wanted to take pictures. While I understand the desire to maintain a certain ambiance, I was hoping to capture the experience so I could share it and encourage others to visit your fantastic bakery! Despite the somewhat unfriendly environment, the highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Spanish bread—it absolutely stole the show! However, I believe the customer service could use some improvement to match the incredible quality of the food. Overall, I encourage fellow foodies to make the trip for the delicious bread, but I hope to see a warmer welcome on my next visit!

We got a lot of food I prefer sweet but was really wanting savory this morning. Picked up the tuna and corned beef and it was very very yummy. I also grabbed a pack of what looked like steamed dumpling it had beef inside might be my favorite thing I got.

Good waipahu Filipino bakery. Finally tried their custard pie and family raved. Usually we just get Spanish rolls which come hot and delicious (always eat some on the way home)
